Thomas Varghese & Co. was started by Late Mr. C. G Varghese in 1935. Having born and brought up in a rural area near Alleppey, Kerala, where the principal crop is coconut, Mr. C. G Varghese stepped into the coir Industry with confidence.
Today Thomas Varghese & Co. has a number of production units spread over the out-skirts of Alleppey with sophisticated machinery for manufacturing and supplying a wide range of Coir, Jute and Rubber products.

After the demise of Mr. C. G Varghese in 1978 the group is now looked after by Mr. Mammen Varghese and his sons Mr. Jacob Mammen, Issac Mammen & Abraham Mammen. Mr. Abraham Mammen is our overseas representative. Thomas Varghese & Co. are managed by highly qualified professional management and assisted by dynamic sales force. The company have hitherto been able to acquire good appreciation from overseas customers |

| THE COIR STORY |
Kerala on the south west coast of India is a lovely land of lush green paddy fields, coconut palms and calm blue lagoons. The husks of the coconuts, separated from the nuts, are retted in lagoons upto 10 months. These retted husks are then beaten with wooden mallets to produce fluffy golden fibre. |
On traditional spinning wheels called "Ratts", womenfolk spin the fibre into yarn. The yarn is then dyed in warm colors and woven into a wide range of floor coverings-colorful and hard- wearing door mats, sound absorbent and durable mattings, bright mourzouks and crushproof pile carpets, etc. |
